[we are jumping right into this memshare because i said so. sheba makes the mistake of picking up one of the memshare shards while dokja is nearby.

you know you should keep running, but you can't help but look back at the battle raging behind you. the two-headed dragon is fierce, and at any rate there's only so much room on this lighthouse - doubly so now that light is coming from the depression in the center, illuminating the fight with a warm glow. the hand holding yours is firm and protective, and he tugs you forward.
if you can just make it to the floating platform, you can descend from the lighthouse and get to safety.
but, behind you, the dragon lets out a cry of pain. felix stops, then, and looks back in horror. could they have been defeated so quickly?
voices call out after you - it's true. they have been. felix turns to your pursuers - two blond boys, a redheaded boy, and a blue-haired girl, and looks them over coolly. you take a step behind him.]

[isaac, if he's able to, will take you back to lalivero. you get ready to run - but the rest of the group calls out to felix, trying to understand. the conversation is drowned out by the music - and then interrupted by a burst of light from the lighthouse, splitting it into quarters.

Noooo! Sheba!
[ - you don't let go.
felix calls out to you, kneeling over the side of the ledge and trying to reach for your hand. it's just out of reach.
you can tell already...
...he won't be able to reach you without unbalancing himself. he could fall here. he could die here, and he wasn't even supposed to be up here in the first place. he only came up to try to protect you. this isn't the sort of price he should have to pay for kindness.
he should be on the ship. with his sister. safely away from here, not...

[you can't. you know you can't.
the foundations of the light house are crumbling. it's harder and harder to hold on, anyway - he tries to convince you to keep trying, to make it clear that if you fall, you'll die.
you know that already.
you can't hear his pleas over the sound of the music that's playing in this memory, but each one makes your heart sink. he'll blame himself for this. it's not his fault at all, but he will.
he tried to set you free, and he could have succeeded - it's not his fault...
can you convince him of that?
you look down and swallow hard. it's a long drop. longer than any person could possibly survive. he leans further over the ledge, trying to take your hand, and almost - but not quite - grabs your wrist. you swear you can feel his gloves swipe against her skin.

you smile, and whisper - ]

the wind rushes around you as you fall, and you close your eyes.]

That's a good way of thinking, too.
[whatever needs to be done... it's not the first time she's encountered someone who thinks like that. knowing how jrpgs go, it probably won't be the last!
but it's a familiar mindset, and a comforting one. if enough people are that determined, then they're sure to come out of this alright, aren't they? and it doesn't necessarily have to be a lot of them, either. just... enough.]
I'll do my best, as well. I really want to get us all out of here.

[wow. sheba thought she had some understanding of what dokja's world was like from their earlier conversations, but she wasn't expecting that menu screen, and - how is he able to help the girl so easily, she wonders?
how is he able to see those things...?
turns out, she didn't really understand his world at all.
but one things he does understand is - ]
You saved her...?
[what an admirable thing to do.]

Then... she's lucky to have met you.
[that's all it takes to change someone's fate, isn't it?
for the right person to show up, at just the right time. that girl would have been dead if not for dokja. she's lucky, and the people she will grow - or has grown? - strong enough to save are lucky, too.
sheba wonders, who else has this person saved?
...but before she can contemplate that much more, he comments on her own memory, and she looks down.]
It worked out alright. If you believe the stories, that's not the furthest I've fallen, in any case.

Here we both are!
[she grins.
aura, who is in rabbit form, seems a little more off-balance and disturbed than sheba is allowing herself to look from seeing the memories; she's shivering a little, curled up in a ball at her feet, and sheba kneels down to pick her up. there there. it's fine.]

A lot is right! Sometimes the music is so loud I can't hear myself think.
[she's continuing to try and soothe aura, who does seem to be relaxing a little as they just have a normal conversation. everything is fine.]
I wonder what else we'll find as we look around here, though...

That's true. I think I'm going to look into them with Scheherezade later. I'll let you know what we find.
[which, on that topic -
pc me later in the week so i can have her share it!!]

[sheba is ... chilling! trying to calm down. she knows everyone who just came back is in good hands and that the best thing she can do for them is give them some time to rest, so she's just trying to stay calm (partly to project calm at diluc over their emotionshare link so he doesn't get too worked up over kaeya getting hurt) and wait.
waiting sucks. when dokja finds her, she's in the markets, idly browsing through for anything useful in a bid to stay distracted.]
Oh. Yes, I do. [she smiles.] I should tell you what Scheherezade and I found...

[she is also of the opinion that they're dead, but she's trying not to think about it for now.
she nods, and goes to sit with him.]
We tried to go pretty far into the canals because we were looking for the catacombs Scheherezade said the locals told her about. It's... the people who lived here in the past didn't really like angels, I think, because we found engravings of them that had been defaced.

Ah...
[it. sure does. she nods upon seeing the fragment.]
Some of the things I saw written on the engravings were like that. Let me think...
[she closes her eyes to try and recall it.]
"THEY LIE. THEY DID THIS. IT'S THEIR FAULT. WE'VE BEEN FOOLED. TYRANY. OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE THE TRUTH."

[A LITTLE FOXY DANCE... cute. sheba stops, and aura, who is in rabbit form and being carried by sheba, leaps down out of her arms and bounds forward to greet the fox!
sheba looks up at the sound of dokja's voice, and she smiles, a bit of recognition flashing in her eyes.]
I'd be glad to listen to one. ...but also, if you could do me a favor - and I think I might be asking for a similar reason as to why you feel inclined to tell a story... could I ask which team you're on? [a beat.] If you can't answer, that's okay. We could also exchange secrets, or there are a couple of other things I need to do, too...
